Since July 1, 2026, the rules have changed for certain international journeys.
Regulation (EC) No. 561/2006, as amended in particular by Regulation (EU) 2020/1054, notably extends the scope of tachograph requirements to certain international transport operations carried out with vehicles or vehicle combinations with a maximum permissible mass exceeding 2.5 tonnes.*
Depending on the vehicle’s maximum permissible mass, who owns the horses being transported, the nature of the journey and the conditions under which it is carried out… there are many exemption criteria, and it is not always easy to know whether and when you are affected.
